Samsung Electronics is rolling out ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to its employees globally, accelerating the company's adoption of AI. Under the agreement, ChatGPT and Codex will be available to all Samsung Electronics employees in Korea and all employees of the Device eXperience (DX) division worldwide. This represents one of the largest enterprise deployments of OpenAI to date.

Samsung's global deployment is one of the largest enterprise launches of OpenAI. Samsung Electronics plans to use ChatGPT and Codex across its operations—from research and development (R&D) and manufacturing to marketing, corporate functions, and other areas of the business.

Samsung Electronics plans to use ChatGPT and Codex to perform both technical and non-technical tasks across a wide range of functions, including software development, marketing, product development, and manufacturing, to improve employee productivity and problem-solving capabilities. Codex was originally designed for software development, but it is increasingly becoming useful for a wider range of tasks.

With ChatGPT, Samsung Electronics employees more efficiently perform a wide range of knowledge-based tasks, including searching and analyzing information, composing documents, developing insights, and interpreting data. ChatGPT Enterprise provides enterprise-grade capabilities that enable organizations to securely and effectively leverage AI, including data protection, user and access management, and security controls. These capabilities enable Samsung Electronics employees to leverage advanced AI within the company's security policies and governance systems.

Codex can improve not only developer productivity through tasks such as writing, reviewing, and debugging code, but also the productivity of non-technical teams in their daily work. For example, employees can use Codex to transform ideas into working software, internal tools, websites, and automated workflows.

More than 5 million people now use Codex weekly for technical and non-technical workflows and roles. The number of active Codex users in Korea has grown nearly 800% since February 1, 2026.

"This historic implementation is especially significant for OpenAI because Samsung Electronics, a global technology and manufacturing leader, embraces AI not as a tool limited to specific teams or functions, but as a core platform for enhancing employee performance and innovation worldwide," said Harrison Kim, General Manager of OpenAI Korea.

"OpenAI will work closely with Samsung Electronics to help its employees master ChatGPT and Codex to move faster from ideation to implementation, solve complex problems, and create new products and services."

OpenAI and Samsung Electronics previously began collaborating on global AI infrastructure. Samsung Electronics is working with OpenAI to supply the advanced memory semiconductors needed for next-generation AI infrastructure. With the implementation of ChatGPT Enterprise by Samsung Electronics, the relationship between the two companies expands from AI infrastructure to workforce transformation and company-wide AI adoption.
